Daniel’s 70th Week – A Seven Year End Time Fantasy

Daniel’s 70th week, being the seven years after a pre-tribulation rapture, is a fantasy. A fantasy so easily disproved, it’s a wonder how it became the center peg of a billion dollar “End Times” industry.

The intention is, after reading this blog you will be convinced Daniel’s 70th week pre-tribulation is a myth. A myth you came here today knowing was absolutely biblical. In fact, what I point out next should easily be the only disqualifying proof you need (but what fun is that?).What’s the first thing Daniel tells us about ALL THE 70 WEEKS? Let’s read it:

Daniel 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people [The Jews] and upon thy holy city [Jerusalem], to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”

If you’ve read the home page of this site you know the “Key” to understanding the Book of Revelation (and Daniel for that matter), is knowing who the writers (Daniel and John), are addressing their prophecies too. In Revelation, every chapter (up to the 7th trump 2nd coming of Christ), are addressed to Jews and Christians living in the middle east. Specifically Israel and Jerusalem.

Likewise, here we read Daniel saying (without question), the prophecy of the 70 weeks are upon the Jews and Jerusalem.

There you have everything you need to know. The 70 weeks (including the 70th week AND the Great Tribulation, Antichrist, False Prophet, Mark of the Beast, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and all the rest), is not a worldwide global event.

It’s upon the Jews and Jerusalem!

Furthermore, the 70 weeks have little to do with the End Times AT ALL. But I digress.

Now to make mincemeat out of the Daniel’s 70th week Pre-tribultion false doctrine. I’ll address all the main lies. Including the biggest lie of all!

First Lie:

“The Great Tribulation starts 3 1/2 years into Daniels 7 years”. I’ve written extensively on this falsehood in several blog posts, I’ll direct you to my last.
The Great Pre Tribulation Hoax.

Second Lie:

The two witnesses that supposedly appear during Daniel’s 70th week are Elijah and Moses. I recently rebuffed this quackery in this blog entry
Who are the Two Witnesses in the book of Revelation?

Third Lie:

“The Antichrist is a man that comes to power in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week.” I prove how ridiculous this fabrication is in this blog entry here:
The Antichrist has been identified.

Fourth Lie:

“The Mark of the Beast is 666” Noooo it’s not. Surprised? I explain here:
“666 IS NOT the Mark of the Beast”

Fifth Lie:

“The Holy Spirit is restraining “the Antichrist” to come to power” That PURE SPECULATION comes from this verse: 2nd Thessalonians 2:7 says,

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work. Only he who now hinders will hinder until he is taken out of the way, and then shall that wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.”

William Barclay, The Letters to the Philippians, Colossians and Thessalonians, says this:

“What was the restraining force which was still keeping The Lawless One under control? No one can answer this question with certainty. Most likely Paul meant the Roman Empire… Rome was the restraining power which kept the world from insane anarchy. But the day would come when that power would be removed—and then would be chaos.”

The Bible describes 8 evil empires called “Beasts” that will, through out time, persecute God’s elect (the Jews/Christians). Chronologically, the 6th beast was the Roman empire which was ruling at the time Paul was writing these verses. BEFORE the lawless one could come, the Roman empire beast would have to be “taken out of the way”, giving space for the 7th beast to rise. More on that here: The Beast of Revelation 13

Sixth Lie:

“The Antichrist sets up a cashless monetary system” – Total speculation formed from Revelation 13:17, KJV: “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Ergo no cash? HA! Just as plausible a conclusion can be “Your money is no good here without wearing the mark.”

Seventh Lie:

“The Antichrist will set up a One World Government” – You’ll not find a single scripture in the Bible to verify this notion. Prove me wrong. Heck, I can’t even tell you a Bible reference they get this idea from.

Eighth Lie:

The Jews build the 3rd Temple before Jesus returns.” Again SPECULATION. They get the idea from 2 Thess 2:4 “and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.” They just assume the “temple of God” has to be a third Jewish temple. But does it say that? Nope. Why? Because the 2nd temple was STILL THERE when Paul was writing this. Why would he be speaking about a 3rd temple?

But, in fact a 3rd temple to a god was built on the Temple mount in 688 AD. And it’s still there. See for yourself Here.

THE BIGGEST LIE:

“Daniel’s 70th week is a 7 year time period after Jesus returns to rapture the saints before His second coming.” The pre-tribbers believe at the sound of the 7th and last trump, Jesus comes back unofficially (because his feet don’t touch the ground), to rapture the church. His official 2nd coming then comes unannounced (you can’t find an 8th trumpet blast mentioned in Revelation), after Daniel’s magical and horrifying “7 years.”

Certainly they’re correct about Jesus coming in the air to rapture the church at the sound of the last trump. We know that because Paul told us in 1 Thess 4:16-17

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The pre-tribbers believe this to be the end of the event. That Jesus takes the raptured to heaven and uses the 7 years of Daniel’s last week to outfit and train the saints how to ride the horses they’ll be on when they return with Jesus seven years later. I’m not making that up folks. Jesus raptures the dead and living saints in the space of a Twinkling of an eye (ever time how long it takes an eye to twinkle?), yet needs 7 years to change our clothes and teach us to be heavenly equestrians.

Neigh! (I know it’s “nay”, just thought this was a good place to make a horse joke). The 2nd Coming is a sequence of events that roll out rapidly once that Last Trump Blows!

So when does Daniel’s 70 week occur? The short answer: The question should be “When did it occur?”

When it comes to the prophetic lengths of time referring to Jewish festival days, weeks and years, one has to study deep. I’m going to let my pastor explain the specifics of how long Daniel’s 70th week is. I’ll just sum it up here. It’s not 7 days = 7 years, like the previous 69 weeks are counted ( a day = a year). The 70th week in Jewish custom is a Jubilee week. During a Jubilee week (prophetically speaking) each day is counted as 360 years (number of days in a Hebrew year). To rightfully count Daniel’s 70th week, the math goes like this 360 X 7 = 2520 years.

I’ll let Pastor Joseph Cortes take it from here to teach you the math and the timeline of events that occurred during these 2520 years. Watch “Daniel’s 70th Week Part One” video below.

I’m surprised there are no comments. It is amazing how many people have accepted Daniel’s 70th week as truth. Darby and those who followed in his footsteps have done an incredible amount of harm to prophetically deceive Christians than any other topic. Their interpretation of Daniel 9:24-27 is an abomination.
