Valley Of Dry Bones Becomes The New State Of Israel – by Gerald Preston

Ezekiel 37:1

“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,”

I grew up in New Mexico and for some reason when I read this chapter I imagine this valley to look like a dry wash in a canyon. When I see the dry bones am reminded of a farm I once saw in Oklahoma that had 100’s skeletal remains of cattle in a pasture. I picture dry bones in a dry wash.

Ezekiel 37:2 “And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.”

Ever see old dry bones?

Ezekiel 37:3 “And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.”

Ezekiel was walking in a place that God put him in and there were dry bones everywhere. He was surrounded by them. As we read further in the chapter we find; these are the bones of an army. Probably ambushed killed and left to rot right where they were. Obviously, they had been there for a very long time. Baking in the sun. All that was left were these bleached out dry bones. Kind of a strange moment for Ezekiel to say the least.

Then God asks, ”CAN THESE BONES LIVE!?”

Has God ever spoken to you? I’m not talking about in a dream. I’m not talking about in your mind either. Have you ever heard him with your ears? I haven’t. Not like that. What would you do? One time I asked God to speak to me. I was alone and in prayer. Right when I asked Him to speak to me; the house settled and an object fell off the wall. I was so startled that I jumped up to my feet. That woke me up. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if He teleported me somewhere and started asking strange questions.

Ezekiel 37:3 “And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.”

Ezekiel was right! Think about it. We really don’t know much. All we really know is what we read in scripture. We have so many men preaching Gods word. So many great men. Yet, here we are. Compared to God we can barely write two words legibly on a dry erase board. I have more questions than answers. Chapters like this stir up even more questions.

Ezekiel 37:4 “Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.”

Now He has Ezekiel talking to skeletons? REALLY!?

He always has prophets doing weird things. If I was in Ezekiel’s shoes. I’d be saying, ”OH NO! NOT AGAIN!! WHAT DO YOU HAVE ME DOING NOW!?” Prophets live in the lunatic fringe. From most people’s perspective they look like lunatics.

Ezekiel 37:5,6 “Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.”

I dare you. Go to a cemetery; one that is busy. (Busiest cemetery I’ve been to was Arlington. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.) Stand there in the middle of the crowd and recite these words from Ezekiel. Don’t read them either. Memorize it and read it like you mean it. People will think you are a nut. Especially in these days. This generation is an unbelieving generation. This declaration goes against science. In their eyes it’s impossible. Telling people we believe in Jesus Christ is not popular anymore. Many think we are clinging to a fantasy. But what about this fantasy?

Ezekiel 37:8 “And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.”

OK!!! NOW YOU’VE DONE IT!!!

You’re in the middle of the crowd. You say that weird stuff. You tell the dead military men to rise up. People think you’re a nut. You’re asking the impossible. Then it happens. The Graves open up all kinds of strange things happen. WALLAH!!! WHAM BAM PRESTO!!! There’s an Army of men all clothed and ready for battle. You went from looking like a nut case to looking like a witch from the LORD OF THE RINGS.

I’m skipping to verse 11. You should open up your Bible and read the rest yourself. This is crazy stuff.

Ezekiel 37:11 “Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.”

This prophecy was written over 2500 years ago. The Babylonians had taken the Israelites into captivity. These were the Jewish Israelites. This chapter is speaking of Israel. They were removed and taken into captivity. The nation of Israel was dead. NO MORE!!! The fate of Israel is what this chapter is about.

Not just about this removal either.

In this chapter God promises to resurrect the nation of Israel. This isn’t the only place in scripture either. He makes his promises about Israel several times in scripture. Not only did He promise to resurrect Israel as a Nation. In other places he gives timelines. I know of 5 timelines in scripture that when calculated out give the date: 1948. Isn’t that amazing. That’s the year Israel became a nation again. Just exactly as scripture foretold?

God gave Ezekiel that vision to prove a point. 2400 years is a long time. The people who were alive when the Babylonians took Israel into captivity were long gone in 1948. The land of Israel was a heap of rubble. It wasn’t even called Israel anymore. It was called Palestine. The names had been changed.

Right now we are looking forward to the Return of Christ.

A high percentage of the world thinks were crazy for believing this. It’s shocking to me to realize how many people I’ve spoken to that don’t believe in Christ. Even more don’t believe in His return. In the early 1900’s you would get the same response in regards to the rebirth of Israel. It looked impossible. Just as impossible as if I were to go and ask the dead at a cemetery to rise up. Folks scripture is real. It’s not made up. It’s not a fantasy.

My plan is to show you these timelines. Knowing about them should build your faith. No human or book has ever accurately predicted the future. Only God inspired scripture has done this. I can show you.

Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Do you think the 1948 date when Israel was reborn as a state and recognized by the United States of America was some random happening not foretold by Biblical prophecy?

Well think again. Join this lecture presented by Joseph Cortes of Faith Cometh By Hearing ministries as he tracks us through the Old Testament that foretells the 1948 date in future history.
